New Age of the Garmin GPS |

Like all technology, the many Garmin GPS devices sold online have come a long way since I bought mine five years ago. Mine still gets me to new addresses, no questions asked even after ignoring the map update notifications indefinitely. It doesn’t have any of the frills just a “Go Home” button, place to insert addresses, the map and a list of helpful categories like “restaurants” in the area. Over the weekend, I drove a friend’s car home to see what it was like. He had just bought it. A brand new ultra thin LCD Garmin GPS sat hanging down from the top of his windshield.
This sucker had everything from live traffic tracking to 3D animations during the more confusing roadway splits. Even the little digital car traveling down the map was in 3D. It made my Garmin GPS look like a relic. They both get the job done but the devices sold today are leaps and bounds better then what was out there five years ago. I want to upgrade and with the ultra low prices it may be my next electronic purchase. It is sort of like transitioning from CRT to LCD TV.
