Read with Mp3 Players
Reading is something that everyone needs to learn how to do. When you are very young, the emphasis is on reading, writing, and math. As you get older, some children get away from the reading because it is not as exciting as video games or movies. I came up with a way to fix that. I handed out mp3 players to all my students at the beginning of the school year. These mp3 players were to be listened to during class, at home, and wherever else they were. The only catch was that there was classic readings of the literature we were going to study that year.
Not just any readings though. Dramatized versions that made the book come alive through the mp3 players. I remember a few of the kids asking if they could put some of their own music on them. I said they could but they had to leave room for the new books I would upload on them. I started seeing more and more of these mp3 players around the school and noticed that the kids were doing better on their tests. They were even following along in the books with the mp3 players! There was only one drawback. Now when we read aloud, someone has to make sound effects.
